RUNNERS COMPETE AT SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

NACOGDOCHES, Tex. - The Nicholls men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2006 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships Friday afternoon at Pecan Acres Park in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Junior Eunice Jepkogei led the Lady Colonels in 50th place, after covering the 6K course with a time of 25:36. Junior Charlotte Everhardt finished in the 59th spot with a time of 26:08. Other Nicholls runners included LaNation McCray (30:45), followed by Rahjanaye Bailey (35:16.78), LeShea Jenkins (35:18.79) and Heather Martin (35:19.80).

On the men's side, Jory Billiot covered the 8K course in a time of 30:36, good for 68th place. Other Colonel runners included Ben Ngetich (36:56) and Calip Jenkins (41:29).

Lamar swept the team titles, after the women captured 46 points and the men finished with 37. The Lady Cardinals' Clerc Koenck covered the course with a time of 21.35 to take the women's individual title, while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Shadrack Songok paced the 79 male runners with a time of 24:20.
