March 31, 2007 HOUSTON, Tex. - Dominique Harris and Michaela Guidry each set personal bests in their respective events, while seven other athletes moved into all-time top five list at Nicholls, as the Colonels competed at the Victor Lopez Invitational on Saturday on the campus of Rice University.
In addition to setting a personal best, Harris moved into fifth place at Nicholls with a time of 16.15 in the 100-meter hurdles, while Guidry moved into fourth place all-time in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:27.53.
Eunice Jepkogei (19:27.25) finished 28 seconds ahead of Guidry in the 5,000-meter run to move into third place on the Nicholls all-time top five list.
After her time of 26.33 in the 200-meter dash, LaNation McCray currently sits in fourth place on the Nicholls list, and Jarina Guilbeau moved into fifth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.57.
The Colonels 4X400-meter relay team ran in a time of 4:07.25, good enough for a fourth place time in the Colonel books.
Other Colonel performers included: Lauren Bazunu (100-meter dash, 13.16, 20th; 200-meter dash, 27.22, 33rd); McCray (200-meter dash, 26.33, 22nd; 400-meter dash, 1:00.09, 15th); Latasha Bishop (200-meter dash, 26.72, 26th; 400-meter dash, 1:01.01, 17th); Chelsea Dockrey (200-meter dash, 27.42, 34th); Nicoya Hutcherson (400-meter dash, 1:02.78, 19th) and Guilbeau (100-meter hurdles, 16.28, 21st). Running unattached was Ashley Carpenter who took 32nd place in the 200-meter hurdles with a time of 27.14 and 11th place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.87, moving into fifth place in the Nicholls all-time top five list.
Dockrey and javelin thrower Leslie Bourgeois will compete in the Texas Relays on April 6, before the remaining Colonel team will return to action on April 14 at the Seminole Twilight in Tallahassee, Fla.
