LADY COLONELS RUN WELL IN MCNEESE CHRISTMAS INVITE

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Lady Colonels had a strong showing at the McNeese Christmas Invite this past weekend as Nicholls broke several school records, while many runners recorded personal bests.

In the 4x400 meter relay, La-Nation McCray, Alycia Johnson, Ashley Carpenter, and Elizabeth Paschall combined to finish second in the race, and post the second best time in school history with a 4:08.84 mark.

In the 55-meter hurdles, the Lady Colonels' Sabrina Henkes finished fifth with a time of 9.20, and was closely followed in sixth by fellow team mate Rahjanaye Bailey with a posting of 9.54.

McCray also posted a first place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.64, while Carpenter posted a Heat 1 Preliminary best 7.45 in the 55-meter dash, but fell in the final to fellow team mate Tiffany Nall who placed first with a time of 7.38. Tying Carpenter in fifth was Paschall with a time of 7.48.

Nall also continued her all around solid effort as she posted the third best time in school history with a time of 27.08 at the invite. Lauren Bazunu followed in second with a time of 27.41. Brittanie Amos also placed in the race as well as she clocked out with a 29.10 showing in the run.

Also making strides in the invite was Marion Chebet in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:44.35 to place her third. Rounding out the top five in the race was Nicoya Hutcherson with a mark of 1:47.08.

The Lady Colonels will be back in action at the Leonard Hilton Invite in Houston, Tex. on January 12.
