THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels participated in the Louisiana-Lafayette Twilight on Wednesday night, and took home five first place finishes while breaking several school records.

"I thought that the team did a really good job at competing one last time before the conference championship," said head coach Scott Williamson.

"The most impressive thing about our success in this event is that the team overcame the elements to have some really good performances."

Running away with first place honors in the 1500m was Imma Kosgei as she had a time of 4:49.76. Over the last 150 meters, Kosgei really pulled away from the rest of the runners and finished a whole eight seconds ahead of the entire field.

Also taking home first place honors was Charlotte Everhardt in the 3000m with a new personal best time of 10:55.61. Everhardt's time in the event places her in the Top-5 all-time at Nicholls in the 3000m.

Chelsea Dockery and Dominique Harris had success in the high and long jumps with Dockery taking home first place honors in the high jump clearing 5-5, and Harris took home the long jump crown by leaping 17-0.50.

The 4x100m relay team of Alycia Johnson, La-Nation McCray, Ashley Carpenter and Tiffany Nall also took home first place with a school record run of 46.66.

Also setting school records were Sabrina Henkes and Carpenter. Henkes shattered her own school record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 64.34, while Carpenter posted a 25.06 in the 200m to set a new school record.

"With the progress that we have made this season and over the course of the last two, I am very excited about next weekend's SLC Championships," said Williamson.

"This group of girls has combined to break over 30 school records over the last two seasons, and continue to get better with each meet that we compete in."

The Colonels will take part in the SLC Championships next weekend in Huntsville, Tex. on the campus of Sam Houston State. The championships will take place from May 9-11.
