LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Colonels ran well at the McNeese State Invite this weekend, and highlighting the event was senior Dominique Harris as she broke the school record in the 100m hurdles with a first place time of 14.68. Harris nudged out McNeese State's Jessica Gonzales-Pons with a time of 14.73 to take 100m hurdles at the invite. Senior Leshea Jenkins also took home the first place ribbon in the 400m run with a time of 58.36 while sophomore Imma Kosgei won the 800m race with a time of 2:19.97. Kosgei, who moved into third all-time in school history with her time, was a whole four seconds faster than McNeese State's Amy Guinn who placed second. The 4x400m relay team of Jenkins, sophomore Marion Chebet, sophomore Jarina Guilbeau and junior Nicoya Hutcherson also took home first place honors with a time of 4:06.13. The group's time was good enough for third in the Nicholls' record books. Also standing out at the invite was junior Leslie Bourgeois as she took part in the javelin unattached, and won the event with a distance of 45.32m which past the NCAA Regional Qualifying mark. Moving into the Top-5 all-time in school history was freshman Ashley Carpenter in the 400m with her time of 59.13. Carpenter finished in second place behind Jenkins. Nicholls will be back in action next weekend when they participate in the Florida State Relays in Tallahassee, Fla. ##### |
