HATTIESBURG, Miss. - True freshman Imma Kosgei stood out for the Colonels as she ran a school record 4:43.05 to place third in the 1500m at the Southern Miss Invite this past weekend. Kosgei's time was also the fastest time in the event in the Southland Conference so far this season.

Also setting a new school record were both the 4x100m relay teams as they out ran the previous best of 49.05. The team of freshman Brittanie Amos, freshman Elizabeth Paschall, sophomore Jarina Guilbeau and freshman Tiffany Nall ran a 48.97 in the event, while the pairing of freshman Alycia Johnson, senior La-Nation McCray, freshman Ashley Carpenter, and sophomore Lauren Bazunu clocked a 48.87.

"So far this season, we have broken 13 school records and have also many girls move into the Top-5 in certain events, which is a huge accomplishment," said head coach Scott Williamson.

Moving up in the Top-5's was sophomore Sabrina Henkes in the high jump with a 5-3 leap while sophomore Chelsea Dockery placed second in the event at the invite with a 5-5.

Also rewriting the record books in the Top-5's was senior Leshea Jenkins with a time of 58.15 in the 400m to move to second all-time. Jenkins missed the school record of 57.88 held by former Colonel Caroline Hulden.

Sophomore Marion Chebet notched the third best all-time mark in school history in the 800m with a 2:21.37 while Nall climbed to third on the Top-5 list in the 100m dash with a 12.61 showing.

Improving on her personal best was senior Charlotte Everhardt in the 5000m as she ran a 18.28.23 in the finals of the event to place fourth at the invite.
