COLONELS START OFF OUTDOOR SEASON ON GOOD NOTE



Senior Charlotte Everhardt won the 5000m event at the invitational

MOBILE, Ala. - Nicholls had a great showing at the Jaguar Premier Invitational hosted by South Alabama this weekend as senior Charlotte Everhardt won the 5000m run and sophomore Sabrina Henkes captured first place in the 400m hurdles.

Henkes broke the school record in the 400m hurdles with a 1:06.21 posting while Everhardt's time of 18:31.49 was the second best finish in school history.

"I was proud of the way the team competed this weekend," said head coach Scott Williamson. "It was really good to see us have success in our first outdoor meet of the season."

Also moving up in the record books was sophomore transfer Marion Chebet as she posted a 2:22.84 in the 800m, which placed her second in the invitational and in the all-time ledger.

Redshirt freshman Ashley Carpenter and senior La-Nation McCray also rewrote the 200m Top-5 list as Carpenter moved into second place with a time of 25.79 while McCray climbed to third with her run of 25.89.

Sophomore Chelsea Dockrey also made strides in the invitational as she cleared 5-6 in the high jump, and then attempted a NCAA Regional Qualifying mark 5-8.75.

Nicholls will pick up action next Saturday in Hattiesburg, Miss. at the Southern Miss Invite.
