BATON ROUGE, La. - The Colonels had a strong showing at the LSU Purple Tiger Invite as several school records were broken on Saturday at the annual track and field event. Sophomore Jarina Guilbeau broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a 9.43 time in the preliminaries, and was closely followed by senior Dominique Harris with a 9.44 showing. Harris also set the school record in the long jump as she leaped 5.37m, which was good enough for fourth place at the meet, and the senior from New Orleans, La. also had a team best 1.54 in the high jump. Coming close to her first collegiate win in the 800m was sophomore transfer Marion Chebet with a time of 2:28.58, which was five seconds behind the winner. Junior Charlotte Everhardt also made strides in the invite as she too picked up second place honors in the 5000m race with a time of 19:07.72. Freshman Tiffany Nall also ran well in the invite with a 26.67 showing in the 200m, which was good enough to place her in the Top-5 all-time in the Nicholls record books. Nicholls will be back in action next Friday at the McNeese State Invite in Lake Charles, La. The invite is an all day event.
