THIBODAUX, La. - Both the Colonels men's and women's tennis teams earned victories over the Alcorn State Braves on Wednesday afternoon with the women winning 7-0 and the men achieving a 6-1 victory.

"The women's tennis team continues to improve, and gets better and better each time out," said head coach Jim Hunter. "Depth was important in the men's matches, and they played extremely hard as well."

The Lady Colonels (7-7, 3-4) swept the match against the Braves by winning 7-0. Freshman Sara Hanesch and freshman Sanja Stanojcic both won their matches 6-0, 6-0, while senior Celine Stenger defeated the Braves' Swetha Devaraj 6-0, 6-1 at the No.1 position in the lineup.

The Colonels (5-9, 0-6) also had success in their match with the Braves as they won 6-1. The only loss that the Colonels accumulated was at the No.1 spot in the lineup with sophomore Vlad-Lucian Popa falling to Abhaya Prakash 6-0, 6-4.
