March 24, 2007 THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels continued to show improvement with their 6-1 victory over the Cowgirls on Saturday evening at the Colonels Tennis Complex.
"I am very proud of how the team in how they competed and played," said head coach Jim Hunter. "They really played with a purpose out there today, and are still improving with every match."
The Colonels (6-5, 3-2) won the doubles point with strong play from freshman Karlijn Sissingh and senior Celine Stenger who won their match over Urska Dobersek and Victoria Martinez. Senior Adeline Vallet and freshman Sara Hanesch also dominated their doubles series against Petra Gudelj and Natascha Jonqueneel by winning 8-0 to give the doubles point for Nicholls.
Nicholls' success in doubles carried over into singles play where the Colonels won all their matches except one. The Colonels will turn around tomorrow and play Lamar at 11 a.m.
