March 9, 2007 THIBODAUX, La. - The Lady Colonels picked up their first win in Southland Conference play in the 2007 campaign, and their first victory in four seasons in conference action with their 4-3 triumph over the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Friday afternoon.
"I am really proud of the way the team as a whole played today," said head coach Jim Hunter. "They battled hard, and never gave up in their matches."
The Lady Colonels swept the Islanders in doubles competition by winning all three matches, which gave them the doubles point. Senior Adeline Vallet and freshmen Sanja Stanojcic and Karlijn Sissingh took care of their business in singles to give the Colonels the 4-3 edge and the victory. Freshman Nicole September went the distance with the Islanders' Amanda Brahim, but fell in the ten point tie breaker.
