Before Nicholls: When she was eight years old, Sanja started playing tennis with her older brother Marko... From that moment on, Sanja developed a strong passion for tennis especially when playing tournaments... In her career, she won the states tournament three times, and was ranked in the top 70 in Europe in both fourteen and under and in the sixteen and under age groups... Besides winning a few tournaments, she also made it to many semi-finals and finals in the numerous tournaments that she participated in.

Personal: Sanja Stanojcic is from Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina... Banja Luka is the second biggest town in her country, and is where her parents Slobodan and Gordana reside... Her mother, Gordana, is and economist and her father, Slobodan, is a biologist... Has one brother, Marko, who is four years older than her... Had the opportunity to study in Germany as a part of a high school exchange student program... The American Field Service (AFS) organization gave her a scholarship to participate in the exchange program... After coming back from Germany in 2005, she started volunteering for AFS, and still does today... She regards her time spent in Germany as a wonderful experience that will always stay a part of her.
