THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels will play at the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech on Thursday at 3 and 5 p.m. before coming home to face conference rival Texas-San Antonio this weekend in a pivotal SLC series. Nicholls (14-17) took two games from Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday evening in the Colonel Softball Complex and will continue their in-state tour when they travel to Louisiana Tech on Thursday. Harrell also shares team high honors in doubles (7) with senior Amy Thibodeaux who leads the team in homeruns with 10. Headlining the Colonels in the circle is sophomore Audrey Wood with a 1.87 ERA and a 4-1 record on the season. The Lady Techsters (17-16) are playing their first games since this past weekend when they lost two-of-three against San Jose State in their conference opener. Louisiana Tech is led at the plate by three players batting over .300 with Amberly Waits hoisting a team best .396 average. Louisiana Tech has two players with ERA's under 2.0 with Meghan Krieg leading the way with a 1.42 ERA and a 4-1 record in the circle. In last year's series against UTSA, both teams split in day one's doubleheader. UTSA went on to win Sunday's match up to take the series. The Colonels went into that series atop the SLC with a 7-1 record, but after their bout with the Roadrunners, Nicholls went 8-10 the rest of the way to finish 15-11 in conference. Leading the Roadrunners at the plate entering this year's series is reigning SLC Hitter of the Week Danye Holmes with a .390 average. Holmes, who is tied for the team lead in homeruns (5) and doubles (4) with Krista Sitka, is one of four Roadrunners batting over .300 for the season and leads the squad with a 1.44 ERA in the circle. First pitch for the series against UTSA will be Saturday with the doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. All games will be made available for fans to follow live statistically on the internet at www.geauxcolonels.com via GameTracker. ###### |
