Jenny Parsons enters her sixth season with Nicholls and fourth as head coach. After just two seasons at the helm, Parsons brought the Colonels to the Southland Conference Tournament in back-to-back seasons in 2006 and 2007, and is looking to build on that success this season. Parsons came to Nicholls after serving as the assistant coach and pitching coach at East Carolina University for seven years. While at ECU, Parsons' 2000 pitching staff set a school record for strikeouts with 421 and wins with 60. In the Big South in 1998, the Pirate hurlers were first in shutouts (20) and innings pitched (411). Each one of Parsons' seven pitching staffs from the 1994 to the 2000 season were in the top seven in school history for staff wins. Once at Nicholls, Parson helped to bolster the Lady Colonels pitching staff. Last season, Nicholls had one of the best pitching staffs in the Southland Conference, as the group finished with a collective 1.87 ERA. Additionally, Parsons had the privilege to instruct two-time All-Southland Conference selection and second-team All-South Region pick Dione Meier. Meier established numerous career marks in categories such as strikeouts in a single game and season. A 1994 graduate of East Carolina in Leisure System Studies, Parsons played four seasons for the Lady Pirates and holds nearly all of ECU's individual pitching including games pitched (157), wins (102), strikeouts (402) and shutouts (34). She is second in ERA (1.52). As a senior, Parsons led the 1993 Pirate team to the ECAC Tournament and was named to the ECAC All-Star Team. During her final season, Parsons also finished second in the NCAA in victories (32). As a junior in 1992, Parsons led the nation in wins with 38. Two years after receiving he undergraduate degree, Parsons earned her Master's Degree in Athletic Administration from East Carolina in 1996.
