THIBODAUX, La. - Head coach Cindy Piper announced Thursday the signing of two players for the 2008 season. Carolyn Noble and Samantha Etherington will join Nicholls on the pitch, along with 13 other newcomers. Noble, a Burlington, Ontario, Canada native, is a midfielder who plays for the Burlington Flash Under 18 team. "Carolyn will help us out in the midfield," said Piper. "She is a creative player who finds a way to make others around her better. She will be instrumental in organizing our attack." Etherington, who hails from Longbenton, England, is a member of the Newcastle United WFC and plays for Gateshead Women's Academy. "Sam is another kid who can play in the midfield as well as in the backline," Piper added. "She has great pace and will be able to set our tempo both offensively and defensively." "We have had a very good year recruiting-wise. With these two additions and a few others, we are pleased with the income athletes. They are sound students academically and are very disciplined athletes." ###### |
