LADY COLONELS CURRENTLY IN NINTH AT TROY INVITATIONAL

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Nicholls women's golf team is currently in ninth place at the Troy Women's Invitational, after shooting a 317 in the opening round Monday afternoon at Arrowhead Country Club.

South Alabama heads into Tuesday's final round atop the leaderboard with a 292, followed by Louisiana-Monroe (297) and Austin Peay (300) in second and third place, respectively. Belmont and Murray State are tied for the fourth spot, after each shooting 302.

Jacksonville State (305), Western Kentucky (307), Northern Colorado (311), Nicholls (317) and Samford (318) fill out the top 10, while Centenary (321), Jackson State (324), Lipscomb (325), Troy (329) and Tennessee State (367) round out the bottom five.

South Alabama's Elin Andersson completed the first round with a three under-par 72, to secure the top individual spot. Staci Lynch of Austin Peay is currently in second place after shooting par in the first round. Four golfers are tied for third place with 73.

After each shooting 77, Jessica Marquart and Theunette Van der Walt lead the Lady Colonels in a tie for 27th place. Daniele Dunlop (79) is tied for the 39th spot, followed by Emiley Patton (84), tied for 63rd and Natalie Robinson (85), tied for 66th place.

The final round is slated for Tuesday at 8 a.m., with tee times running until 9:52 a.m.
