September 26, 2006 MONROE, La. - The Nicholls Lady Colonels golf team placed sixth at the ULM/Fred Marx Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at the Bayou DeSaird Country Club in Monroe, La.
McNeese State captured the tournament title with a score of 916. Tournament host Louisiana-Monroe (921) took second place honors, with Sam Houston State (927), Samford (933) and Texas State (947) rounding out the top five.
Nicholls (999) finished in the sixth spot, while Jackson State (1006) and Henderson State (1014) finished in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Centenary (1018) and Troy (1018) tied for ninth place.
Louisiana-Monroe's Angela Drane finished atop the individual leader boards, shooting a 218 for the tournament. Jackson State's Shasta Averyhardt (221) took the runner-up spot, while McNeese State's Hannah Bagwell finished in third place.
Natalie Robinson shot a 246 for the tournament, to lead the Lady Colonels tied for 33rd place. Theunette Van der Walt (248) finished in the 36th spot, followed by Jessica Marquete (250), tied for the 37th place, Daniele Dunlop (255) tied for 41st and Emiley Patton (265) tied for 48th place.
The Nicholls women's golf team returns to action on October 23-24 when they host the Lady Colonel Collegiate at Ellendale Country Club in Houma, La.
