Senior Daniele Dunlop Claims the Top Individual Prize

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Senior Daniele Dunlop won her first collegiate tournament title, holding off four other players by a stroke, while the Lady Colonels just missed the team title and finished second, by five strokes, on the final day of the Troy Invitational on Tuesday at Arrowhead Country Club.

With the win, Dunlop claimed the first-ever individual win for a Lady Colonel since Nicholls started the program back in 2001.

Nicholls, in its final tournament of the fall semester, finished the final round with a combined 308 for a two-day total of 616. Jacksonville State, who won the Ohio Valley Conference last season and went on to the NCAA Regionals, finished with a 307 on the day and 611 for the tournament to claim the team title.

Belmont University finished third with a 619, while Tennessee Tech (623) and tournament host Troy University rounded out the top five with a 627.

The remaining field of 19 consisted of University of Evansville (629), Jackson State University (631), Birmingham Southern (632), Murray State University (633), Louisiana-Monroe (633), Northern Colorado (638), Western Kentucky (641), Centenary College (642), Austin Peay State University (643), Lipscomb University (647), University of Montevallo (655), Houston Baptist University (683) and Tennessee State University (791).

Other Nicholls golfers included Theunette Van der Walt (T13-155), Natalie Robinson (T19-156), Emiley Patton (T45-161) and Elyse Kinley (T48-162).
