THIBODAUX, La. - Junior Theunette Van der Walt fired a 76 in the morning and returned a 76 in the afternoon for a 152, which puts her tied for 10th after round one of the ULM Fred Marx Invitational contested at the par-72, 5,930-yard Bayou Desiard Country Club. Lauren Hassell of Wichita State and Jennifer Heinz of Sam Houston State lead the individual standings after each fired a 148. Angela Drane of Louisiana Monroe, Elin Andersson of South Alabama and Adrian Sportsman of Arkansas State each finished the opening round with a 149, just one shot off the lead. Arkansas State sits in first place in the team standings after shooting a 608, while Jacksonville State (610), Central Arkansas (614), South Alabama (617) and Samford University (618) round out the top five. Sam Houston State (621) finished the opening round in fifth place, while Texas-Pan American (624), Louisiana-Monroe (625), eastern Kentucky (625), Nicholls (626) and Wichita State (626) round of the top 10. Rounding out the field of 16 were Centenary College (636), McNeese State (639), Troy (651), Houston Baptist (680) and Henderson State (681). Other Lady Colonel golfers included Elyse Kinley (155, T19), Daniele Dunlop (160, T49), Emiley Patton (165, T63) and Jessica Marquart (169, T74). Nicholls will conclude the final round of 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 25. |
