COLONELS PLACE NINTH IN CHRIS BANISTER CLASSIC

THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels women's golf team had two golfers place in the top 20 in the Chris Banister Gamecock Classic held over the weekend in Montgomery, Alabama with Theunette Van der Walt pacing Nicholls with her 11th place finish followed by Daniele Dunlop at 16.

Van der Walt finished the classic by shooting a 15-over 231 in the classic which included a 1-over 73 stroke performance in the third round. Dunlop posted an opening round 79 and improved in the second with a 75, but slipped back in the final round with a 7-over 79 play to finish 16th in the classic with a 233 shot total.

Also placing in the classic was Elyse Kinley at 33 with her round total of 245, and teammate Emiley Patton wasn't to far behind with her 249 mark in 38th place. Separated by two strokes in the tournament was Jessica Marquart and Natalie Robinson; Marquart finished with a 257 posting to put her 42nd while Robinson came in 44th with a 259.

The women's golf team will be back in action at the Fred Marx Invitational in Monroe, Louisiana from September 30-October 2.
