October 16, 2006 LAKE CHARLES, La. - In heavy wind and rain, the McNeese State men's cross country team pulled in 19 points to beat Nicholls' 36 points, while the Cowgirls tallied 23 points to the Lady Colonels 37, at the Lake Charles Recreational Facility Monday afternoon. Louisiana College and Southern pulled in the early morning, leaving just McNeese and Nicholls to run.
Eunice Jepkogei covered the women's 4K course in 16:29.0 to finish in second place, while Charlotte Everhardt tied for the fourth spot with a time of 17:08.2. Other Lady Colonel runners included LaNation McCray (19:44.4) in tenth place, LeShea Jenkins (22:18.7) in 12th place and Rajanaye Bailey (22:41.4) in 13th.
On the men's side, Jory Billiot covered the 5K course in 17:54.6 to finish in second place. Rudy Darrow (24.15.1) finished in seventh place for the Colonels, followed by Ben Ngetich (26:48.3), Calip Jenkins (27:01.2) and Thomas Bourne (30:00.0) at Nos. 8-10, respectively.
The Colonels and Lady Colonels return to action on October 28 at the Southland Conference Championships in Nacogdoches, Texas.
