TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Colonels posted an impressive 7-0 victory over Winston-Salem on Saturday, but fell 5-2 to Florida A&M on Sunday.

"I thought that both matches the team as a whole played well," said head coach Jim Hunter. "Even though we lost the match against Florida A&M on Sunday, it was very good to win the doubles point against them."

The Colonels (7-10, 0-6) were flawless in their first game of the weekend with a 7-0 victory over Winston-Salem on Saturday. Nicholls took the doubles point by storm as they won 8-0, 8-0, and 8-1 in their matches.

Their momentum carried over into solo play as four of the Colonels six singles matches were 6-0, 6-0 victories. Posting 6-0, 6-0 wins were sophomore Vlad Popa, junior Ricardo van Bolderik, freshmen Phenyo Matong and Sami Mouline. Freshman Eric Fisher and Maxime Bouhoulle each recorded 6-0, 6-1 wins.

Sunday's match did not end in the Colonels favor as they found themselves on the short end of a 5-2 decision to Florida A&M, but Nicholls did pick up the doubles point with wins in the No.1 and No.3 doubles.

Popa and Fisher defeated Artiom Podgainii and Simbarashe Happy 9-8 in the No. 1 slot, and Bouhoulle and Mouline knocked off the duo of Paul Paige and Jarrel Williams by the same score of 9-8 to get the doubles point.

The only Colonel to pick up a win in singles was Matong who beat Florida A&M's Happy in three sets by the score of 7-5, 0-6, 6-0.
