March 6, 2007 THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels men's tennis team fought hard on Tuesday against Indiana State University, but came up on the short end in the 5-2 score to the Sycamores.
"I thought that Vlad (Popa) and Sami (Mouline) played well today in their matches," said head coach Jim Hunter. "As a team, we showed progress today and showed areas in the lineup that we need to work on."
The Colonels lost the doubles point to the Sycamores on the day as the duo of Ricardo van Bolderik and Phenyo Matong picked up the only victory in doubles. van Bolderik and Matong defeated Bruno Echer and Michael Wenham 8-5 in doubles competition.
Of all the singles matches on the day, Vlad Popa and Maxime Bouhoulle were the only Colonels to pick up victories. Popa defeated Anton Tsymbalov 6-4, 6-4, and Mouline took care of Echer in two sets as well by posting 6-2, 6-2 wins.
