THIBODAUX, La. - In only their second match of the season at home, both the Colonels men's and women's tennis teams defeated Austin Peay University on Tuesday evening.

"I thought the men played well in spurts," said head coach Jim Hunter. "The women came out focused and it showed in their win."

The women won the doubles point handedly by the scores of 8-2, 8-3, and 8-1. The only match that the Lady Colonels lost was by default to injury as they cruised through singles competition. Adeline Vallet posted two straight sets of 6-0 too give the Lady Colonels their most impressive victory of the evening.

The final score for the women's match was 6-1 in favor of Nicholls.

Men's Tennis also posted a 6-1 victory as they won their doubles point, and only conceded one singles match to Austin Peay. Vlad Popa lost the ten point tie breaker to Patrick Puertolas to record the only loss for the Colonels on the day.

The final score for the men's match was the same as the women as the Colonels defeated the Governors, 6-1.
