COLONELS PLAYED CAJUNS TOUGH ON SUNDAY

February 5, 2007

LAFAYETTE, La. - The Colonels surprised the Cajuns on Sunday by beating Louisiana-Lafayette in doubles, but could not string together enough wins in singles competition to pull out the win against the in-state power.

"We are improving every time we get on the court," said head coach Jim Hunter. "Our team knows that if they want respect they are going to have to earn it."

Despite winning the doubles matches, Nicholls went on to lose to Louisiana-Lafayette 6-1.

The Colonels men's tennis team won't be back in action again until February 22 when they travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
