THIBODAUX, La. - Both the men's and women's tennis teams will open their 2008 season at NAIA power Xavier (La.) on Monday as the men will start at 1:30 p.m. while the women will get underway at 2:00 p.m.

The men's team finished up last season with an 8-10 overall record and an 0-6 mark in conference play as they return their No. 1 Vlad-Lucian Popa, No. 2 Eric Fisher, and No. 3 Phenyo Matong to the fold in 2008.

The women's squad had the most success the program has had in the recent history last season as they finished with a 10-9 overall record with a 4-6 league mark, which almost landed the Lady Colonels in the conference tournament. The Lady Colonels only return sophomores Sanja Stanojcic and Nicole September, the No. 4 and No. 5 starters last season.

In last year's match up against the Gold Rush, the Colonels defeated Xavier (La.) in doubles action 8-2, 8-6, and 8-2 while dominating singles action en rout to a 6-1 victory. The Lady Colonels also had similar luck as they didn't lose a set in singles on their way the 7-0 win.

The men will have first serve at 1:30 p.m. while the women will get under way at 2:00 p.m.
