COLONELS SIT IN SIXTH HEADING INTO FINAL ROUND

MANY, La. - Junior Marty Reed fired back-to-back rounds of 75 to help push the Colonels to a sixth place finish after day two of the Third Annual Battle of the Bend contested at the par 72, 6,707 yard Cypress Bend Golf Resort and Country Club.

Reed heads into the final round tied for 14th with a 150, just 11 shots off the lead.

Sam Houston State (286-295/581) heads into the final round with a four shot lead over tournament host Louisiana-Lafayette (284-301/585). UMKC (289-301/590) sits in third, while Texas State (299-299/598) and Central Arkansas (304-304/608) round out the top five. Nicholls, who fired a 310 in the opening round, moved up one spot and now sits in sixth after firing a 301 in round two for a two-day total of 611. Stephen F. Austin (308-308/616), McNeese State (315-313/628) and Centenary College (336-328/664) rounds out the field of nine.

Devin Carrey of host ULL sits at the top of the leader board in the individual standings after firing a course record six-under par 66 in the opening round and a one-over par 73 in the second round for a 139.

Other Colonel golfers included Jacob Lejeune (72-79/151), who is tied for 17th, James Terrebonne (80-73/153), who is tied for 25th, Parham Booker (84-74/158), who sits tied for 35th and Robbie Ocmond (83-84/167), who is tied for 52nd.

Nicholls will conclude the Third Annual Battle on the Bend on Tuesday morning with a shotgun start for the final 18-holes.
