COLONELS TIED FOR FIFTH AT TROY UNIVERSITY INVITATIONAL

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Nicholls Colonels men's golf team, led by Marty Reed's 150, is currently tied for fifth place at the Troy University Invitational at Lagoon Park.

University of New Orleans holds the top spot after day one with a 585, while tournament host, Troy, trails by only four shots after posting a 589. Liberty University finished in third with a 592, while Austin Peay State University (602) and Nicholls State University (609) and Samford University (609) round out the top five. Jackson State shot a 611and sit in sixth place, while Southland Conference foe McNeese State (631) and Birmingham Southern (632) round out the remaining tournament field.

Troy's Michael McGrady is atop the individual leader boards with a 139, while Jose Toledo of New Orleans sits only one shot behind with a 140.

Other Colonel golfers include James Terrebonne (152 - T26), Parham Booker (153 - T29), Jacob Lejeune (154 - T31) and Clay Shovan (160 - T46). Sophomore transfer Ebenhaezer Van der Walt finished in 41st after posting a 158 as an individualist.

The tournament will conclude with 18 more holes on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
