DAY ONE COMPLETE AT THE 2007 SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE MEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

KERRVILLE, Tex. - The Nicholls men's golf team is currently in tenth place after the day one of the Southland Conference Men's Golf Championships, at the Commanche Terrace Golf Course in Kerrville, Texas.

Lamar shot four-under 284 to sit in first place, while Southeastern Louisiana and Texas-San Antonio are currently tied for second place with 290s.

Texas-Arlington is in fourth place with a 305 as Sam Houston State and Texas State follow tied for fifth place with 309s.

Stephen F. Austin (315), McNeese State (321), Central Arkansas (323) and Nicholls (329) round out the remaining tournament field at Nos. 7-10, respectively.

Southeastern Louisiana's Matt Carvell is tied with Casey Clendenon of Lamar and Texas-San Antonio's Thomas Kearney for the top spot. All three players shot two-under 70 in the first round.

Marty Reed currently leads all Colonel golfers tied for 24th place with a 78. James Terrebonne (82) is tied for 40th place, while Brandon Henry (84) follows tied for 44th place. Nat Bhanthumachinda (85) is tied for the 47th spot, as Donny Schmitt sits in 50th place with an 88.

Play will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. The final 18 holes will be contested on Wednesday.
