April 2, 2007 SHREVEPORT, La. - Led by Donny Schmitt's first round score of 147, the Nicholls men's golf team currently sits in eighth place at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate being held at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Shreveport, La.
Louisiana-Lafayette leads the team leaderboard with a 584, while UMKC (587), Louisiana Tech (588), Birmingham Southern "A" (589) and McNeese State (595) round out the top five.
Oakland (603), Oral Roberts (604), Nicholls (606), North Dakota State (617) and tournament-host Centenary (626) fill out the bottom five, while Birmingham Southern "B" (633) and Jackson State (634) follow in 11th and 12th place, respectively.
Birmingham Southern's Robert Lindstrom currently sits atop the individual leaderboard with a 138, while Morgan Landry of Louisiana-Lafayette is in second place with a 143. Louisiana Tech's Derek Busby and UMKC's Alex Carper, who is playing as an individual, are both tied for third place with 144s.
Schmitt leads all Colonel golfers tied for 10th place, while Marty Reed (151) is tied for 27th place. James Terrebonne (153) is tied for 32nd place, and is followed by Nat Bhanthumachinda (156), tied for 40th place, and Brandon Henry (161), in the 52nd spot. Robbie Ocmond, who is playing as an individual, shot a 158 for the first two rounds, to sit in a tie for 47th place.
The tournament's final round is set for a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
