COLONELS FINISH IN 14TH PLACE AT CARTER PLANTATION INTERCOLLEGIATE

SPRINGFIELD, La. - The Nicholls mens' golf team finished in 14th place at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate, Tuesday afternoon at Carter Plantation.

Tournament-host Southeastern Louisiana took home the team crown with an 862, while Middle Tennessee State (868), South Alabama (879), Jacksonville State (881) and Tennessee-Chattanooga (886) round out the top five.

Ole Miss (887), Louisiana Tech (890), Mississippi State (896), Southern Miss (898) and Arkansas State (902) filled out the bottom five at Nos. 6-10, respectively, while South Florida (904), Southeastern Louisiana "Green" (905), Texas-San Antonio (909), Nicholls (919) and Louisiana-Monroe (929) fill out the remaining tournament field.

Southeastern's James Taverner finished atop the individual leaderboard with a 212, while Daniel Burns of South Alabama finished in the runners up spot with a 213. Daniel Willett of Jacksonville State closely followed in third place with a 214.

Nat Bhanthumachinda led the Colonel golfers tied for 46th place with a 228, while Marty Reed (229) tied for 51st place. Donny Schmitt (231) tied for 53rd place, James Terrebonne (236) tied for 64th place and Brandon Henry (238) tied for the 66th spot.

Nicholls returns to action on April 2-3 when they participate in the Hal Sutton Invitational at the Stonebridge Golf Club in Bossier City, La. The tournament will be hosted by Centenary College.
