MEN'S GOLF FINISHES IN SIXTH PLACE AT BSC SHOOTOUT

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Nicholls men's golf team shot a 299 in Tuesday's final round, to claim sixth place at the Birmingham Southern Spring Invitational, at Oxmoor Valley Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

Tennessee Tech won the team crown with an 871, followed by tournament-host Birmingham Southern (875), Evansville (893), Carson-Newman College (896) and Siena College (901) to round out the top five.

Nicholls (905) finished in sixth place, while Eastern Illinois (917), Centenary (924), Birmingham Southern "B" and Shorter College (929) came in at Nos. 7-10, respectively. Southern Indiana (935), Bradley University (960), Sewanee (977), Thomas More College (983) and Kentucky State (991) filled out the remaining tournament field.

Birmingham Southern's J.T. Clendenin finished atop the individual leaderboard with a 207, while Dane Fairfield of Carson-Newman College and Bryan Bigley of Siena College tied for the runners-up spot with 214s.

Nat Bhanthumachinda led all Colonel golfers with a 222, to finish tied for 12th place. Marty Reed (228) tied for 21st place, followed by Donny Schmitt (230), tied for 29th, Brandon Henry (233), tied for 40th place, and James Terrebonne (234) tied for the 44th spot.

Nicholls returns to action on March 12-13, when they participate in Southeastern Louisiana's Carter Plantation Intercollegiate, held at Carter Plantation in Springfield, La.
