MEN'S GOLF PLACES THIRD AT MOE O'BRIEN MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT

LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Nicholls men's golf team shot a team-high 289 in the final day of the Moe O'Brien Memorial Tournament to finish in third place at Gray Plantation in Lake Charles, La. on Tuesday.

Tournament host McNeese State took the tournament crown with a score of 880. Stephen F. Austin finished in second with an 891, closely followed by Nicholls (892), UNO (893) and Texas State (913) to round out the top five.

Central Arkansas (915) and Centenary (964) fill out the tournament field at Nos. 6 and 7, respectively.

McNeese State's Sigmundur Masson shot a 207 for the tournament to finish atop the leader boards. Stephen F. Austin's Chad Spencer finished four shots behind with a 211 to take second place, while UNO's Jose Toledo place third with a 213. The Colonels' Donny Schmidt tied with SFA's Matthew Coates for the fourth spot, carding a 221 for the tournament.

Other Colonel golfers include Marty Reed (224), Nat Bhanthumachinda (226), Justin Stoski (230) and James Terrebonne (230).

The Nicholls men's golf team returns to action on October 9-10 when they take part in the Crown Classic, hosted by Stephen F. Austin, at the Crown Colony Golf Course in Lufkin, Texas.
