September 10, 2006 SHREVEPORT, La. - The Nicholls men's golf team placed second, while the women finished in the fifth spot of the Centenary Fall Classic Sunday afternoon in Shreveport. McNeese State won the team title on the men's side with a 582, followed by Nicholls (585) and Oral Roberts (587) at Nos. 2 and 3. Louisiana-Monroe (606), Centenary (614) and Chicago State (626) rounded out the bottom three of the tournament field. Oral Roberts' Austin Hannah finished atop the individual leader boards carding a 135 for the tournament. McNeese State's Jeremy Jeansonne (140) finished in second, while Oral Roberts' Mauricio Tamez placed third with a 142. Colonel golfers who have placed, include Nat Bhanthumachinda (144), who tied for fourth place, Donny Schmitt (146) in the eighth spot, James Terrebonne (150) in 12th place, Justin Stoski (151) tied for 13th and Marco Zirov (153) tied for 19th place. On the women's side, McNeese State also took home the team crown with a 604. Lamar (617) and Oral Roberts (626) followed in second and third place, respectively. Louisiana-Monroe (631) finished in the fourth spot, followed by Nicholls (644), Centenary (660) and Chicago State (779) at Nos. 5-7. Oral Roberts' Pamela Ontiveros took home the individual crown with a 145, while McNeese State's Tinna Johannsdottir finished in the second spot, shooting a 149. Lacy McKinley of McNeese State and Lamar's Bonnie Howard each carded a 151 to tie for third place. Jessica Marquart (155) led all Lady Colonel golfers tying for 10th place, followed by Daniele Dunlop (161) and Theunette Van der Walt (162) at Nos. 21 and 22, respectively. Emiley Patton (169) tied for 26th place and Natalie Robinson (172) placed 30th. The Colonels and Lady Colonels will both return to action on September 25-26. The men will travel to Lake Charles, La.'s Gray Plantation to participate in the Moe O'Brien Invitational, hosted by McNeese State. The women will travel to Monroe, La.'s Bayou DeSaird Country Club to participate in the Lady Indian Invitational, hosted by Louisiana-Monroe.
