MANY, La. - True freshman Jacob Lejeune fired a six-over par 78 and finished tied for 15th as the Colonels closed out their fall season in the final round of the Battle on the Bend at Cypress Bend Resort and Country Club. Devin Carrey of Louisiana-Lafayette, Michael Carnes of Texas State and Stephen Clark of UMKC each finished the 54-hole event tied at the top of the leader board with a two over par 218 to force a playoff. Carnes, who fired a 72 in the final round, would take the individual honors after winning the playoff. Defending champion Sam Houston State shot a final round of 306 to finish with an 887, which was good enough to hold off tournament host Louisiana-Lafayette, who fired a 303 in the final round to finish with an 888. UMKC (895) finished third, while Texas State (900) and Central Arkansas (917) rounded out the top five. Stephen F. Austin (924) finished sixth, while Nicholls (928), McNeese State (956) and Centenary College (1003) rounded out the field of nine. Other Colonel golfers included James Terrebonne and Marty Reed, who both finished tied for 26th with a 231, Parham Booker (T39-240) and Robbie Ocmond (T51-252). The Colonels will take the remaining of the fall semester off and hit the links again in February. ### |
