COLONELS PREP FOR SATURDAY'S SCRIMMAGE; EXCITED ABOUT COLONELFEST

THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels did their drills today in helmets, jerseys and practice shorts as the team prepared for ColonelFest tomorrow.

Rain loomed in the area during practice, but the Colonels were still able to get in all 20 periods of five minutes each. The offense, defense and special teams went over a basic review of everything they have worked on as a team so far in spring drills in preperation for tomorrow's scrimmage.

"The players are excited about tomorrow, and we are all anxious to have the community come out and get a glimpse of next year's team," said head coach Jay Thomas.

The Colonels will scrimmage tomorrow in full pads in John L. Guidry Stadium starting at 11 a.m. In conjunction with the scrimmage and the Colonels' home baseball game against Northwestern State, Nicholls athletic department will host the first annual ColonelFest.

ColonelFest is a family friendly event that will feature a band and a cooking contest. The cooking contest will have a jambalaya division and a miscellaneous bracket. Tickets for the event are $10.00 with children under 12 getting in free, and the ticket holder will be allowed to watch the scrimmage and cheer on the Colonels against Northwestern State in baseball. ColonelFest will start at Noon and go until first pitch in the baseball's doubleheader at 3 p.m.

The annual spring game is set for Thursday April 24 at 7 p.m. in John L. Guidry Stadium. Admission is free to the spring game.

The remaining spring practice schedule is below. All practices are open to the public unless requested otherwise by the football coaching staff.

Saturday April 19 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Monday April 21 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Tuesday April 22 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Thursday April 24 Annual Spring Game 7 p.m.
