NEW ORLEANS, La. - Former standout on the gridiron Alex Romero signed a contract with the New Orleans VooDoo to become their kicker this season, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.

"This is just a great honor for Alex," said head coach Jay Thomas. "He [Alex] worked very hard here at Nicholls and I have no doubt that he will do the same for the VooDoo."

Romero lettered three years at Nicholls before graduating in the fall, and racked up a total of 156 career points while also converting on 23-of-40 field goals. His career long of 45-yards came in John L. Guidry Stadium versus South Dakota State in 2006. He was also 85-for-93 in extra point attempts for his career.
