THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels seven game road stint will come to end when they play the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday Dec. 8 at 12 p.m. When Nicholls (2-6) and Alabama (4-3) square off on Saturday, it will mark the first time in both schools history that they will have played each other on the hardwood. Also, the Crimson Tide is the only member of the Southeastern Conference's west division that Nicholls has not played. The other SEC teams the Colonels have not played are Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Nicholls is 1-24 against SEC opponents in basketball, with the lone win coming at Auburn in the 1993-94 season when Nicholls won 79-76. The Colonels are coming off of a 75-60 win over the University of New Orleans (4-1), who had beaten NC State, Lamar, and Northwestern State earlier in the season. In the win, Nicholls had four players in double figures that included guard Michael Czepil's double-double with 11 points 10 rebounds. Junior Ryan Bathie led the Colonels in scoring with 18 points, and was followed by a career effort by freshman Dominic Friend with 17. Junior Gil Verner tacked on 11 to round out the Colonels double digit scorers. Alabama is coming off of a 70-60 loss against No.4 Georgetown on Wednesday night, and only had two players in double digits as opposed to the Hoyas four. The Crimson Tide were out rebounded in the game 45-to-29, but only committed eight turnovers to Georgetown's 15.
