THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls Colonels will continue their tough non-conference schedule when they travel to the University of New Orleans to take on the Privateers on Saturday December 1 at 7 p.m. The Privateers (4-0) are undefeated this season with their most recent victory coming over fellow Southland Conference foe Lamar (1-4) on Wednesday night, 76-65, en route to their best start since 2002. UNO had three players score in double figures as they were led by senior Bo McCalebb with 22 points. In the process of scoring 22 in the victory, McCalebb crossed the 2,000 point barrier, becoming the first player in Privateer history to accomplish the feat. Only Larry Wilson and Reggie Jackson have crossed the 2,000 point mark for the Colonels, with Wilson ringing up 2,569 and Jackson scoring 2,124. The Colonels (1-6) are coming off of a 68-41 loss at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center to the LSU Tigers (4-2) on Wednesday night. In the loss, the Colonels only had two players score in double digits with junior Ryan Bathie scoring 11 and sophomore Michael Czepil adding 10 to the box score. Czepil also had four assists in the loss as well, while senior Adonis Gray had a team best five rebounds. The game against UNO marks the first time that these two schools have squared off since the 2000-01 season. In that contest, the Privateers won 80-66 in David R. Stopher Gym. Their meeting on Saturday will mark the 15th between the two schools with the Privateers holding the 12-2 advantage. The last time that Nicholls defeated UNO was in the 1984-85 season when the Colonels defeated the Privateers 71-66 in Stopher Gym. The game is the sixth of seven consecutive non-conference road games for the Colonels with the last to come at Alabama on Dec. 8. Nicholls will not be at home until Dec. 11 against in-state rival Louisiana- Monroe. Saturday's game can be heard on 105.9 FM KBZE and on 640 AM KTIB locally and on the internet at www.kbze.com.
