FRISCO, Texas - Nicholls forward Ryan Bathie has been named the Southland Conference men's basketball player of the week, the league office announced Monday.

Bathie averaged 19.0 points, shooting 80.0 percent (16-20) from the floor in wins over Southern-New Orleans and Northwestern State.

The 6-foot-6 senior from Melton, Australia, scored 18 points and turned in his second-best shooting performance of the year, sinking 9-of-11 in Nicholls' 80-56 win over Southern-New Orleans, Jan. 5, that gave the Colonels their first non-conference winning record since 1993-94.

Bathie was the Colonels' leading scorer and rebounder in the win over Northwestern State on Saturday with 20 points and seven rebounds, recording his first 20-point game of the season. He also recorded three assists and grabbed two steals against the Demons, part of the team's season-best 20 in the game.

Each school's SID nominates and votes for the players of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
