Thibodeaux enters his second season as an assistant coach for Nicholls, after spending the previous two seasons at Southland Conference foe Southeastern La. where he was responsible for coordinating camps and assisted with catchers, outfielders, and assisted with hitters. Thibodeaux was very hands on with recruiting there as well and helped recruit two nationally ranked recruiting classes by Baseball America Magazine. While assisting Southeastern La., the Lions posted most wins in ten years with 34 overall wins and 16 conference victories (SLU Record) in 2007. Several players who have been under Thibodeaux's tutelage have gone on to professional careers in baseball. Besides handling the job as the Colonel Recruiting Coordinator, Coach Thibodeaux serves as the hitting coach for the colonels and also works with the outfielders and handles the entire base running duties. His coaching career began in 2003 when he was an assistant at Pearl River Community College. During his tenure there, the Wildcats were conference champions, ranked No. 2 nationally, and won the Mississippi State Championship in 2004. Pearl River Community College repeated as conference champions and was State-Runner up in 2005 with a No.1 national ranking. Before working at SLU, Thibodeaux served as the head coach for the Poplarville Riverfish in the summers of 2005 and 2006. The Riverfish, who are members of the Cotton State Collegiate Wooden Bat League, were Cotton State League Champions in 2004 and 2005 under Thibodeaux's guidance. Thibodeaux played collegiate baseball for Louisiana State University at Eunice from 2000-01 before finishing his playing career at William Carey University with a degree in Physical Education in 2003. The Church Point, Louisiana native is single and resides in Thibodaux, Louisiana. |
